Well, our plan to down Kael on Sunday was laid low by the "challenges" seen across numerous realms; instance server deaths FAR outnumbered boss kills. After loitering outside TK for 45 minutes, we decided discretion was the better part of valor (or at least solid time management) and called the raid. Good thing too; instance servers were down all night. This, however, was not enough to ensure Kael's survival.
When Thursday rolled around, we were ready to head back in to TK and finish Kael once and for all. After a ridiculously fast clear through trash, Al'ar, and Kael's trash, we were face to face with the villain and his minions. Soon we'd see them all face down in the dirt.
The Kael fight is Blizzard at their best; numerous challenges occuring simultaneously, different tactics required for different situations, and a challenging pace throughout the encounter. Kael's advisors were all pretty straight forward; positioning them appropriately for phase 3 made the fight much easier. Oddly enough, Telonicus was the most annoying, as his "Toy" debuff seemed to go only to tanks or one of our two hunters who were responsible for killing the bow during phase 2. Phases 4 and 5 were very straight forward, requiring good environmental awareness and communication to manage mind controlled toons and ensure we weren't dying to damage easily avoided. TDC, as we expected, came out on top quickly, and has officiallly put T5 content to rest.
Congratulations to the entire team for the work put into raiding over the past few months; while there's no doubt this encounter was made easier after the patch, execution is still critical to a successful encounter, and we managed a complex encounter well. With WotLK here in just a few short weeks, we still have some TBC content to experience; let's continue to show the enthusiasm and motivation to see new content that is the hallmark of this guild.
