We proved more...resilient than he expected...

On a lazy Saturday afternoon, the stars finally aligned and TDC explored the Eye of Eternity for the first time. Malygos was on the menu, and he proved a satisfying meal.

The Malygos fight is an interesting encounter which requires solid execution in each phase in order to emerge victorious. Phase One is a straight-forward tank and spank; pay attention to where sparks spawn and dps them down before they get to Malygos, then jump in the aura for a nice dps buff. Vortex is a great opportunity to let loose with those insta-cast abilities and keep dps up on Malygos. Once you get to 50%, Phase Two starts.

P2 begins with Malygos flying away and in the best tradition of villains everywhere, sending lackeys to do the dirty work. Disc riding Lords and Scions descend on the party, and you have to ensure the group is in an anti-magic shell to minimize the damage taken. Once we decided to focus our ranged fire on the Scions first, thus reducing overall damage taken during this phase, we were able to take down his minions with ease, which led us to Phase 3.

P3 harkens back to both the Occulus end-boss fight and the Aces High! daily quest in Coldarra, where each raid member was able to mount a member of the Red Dragonflight and engage in mounted air combat with Malygos. This is a fun phase, with the majority of the raid laying on the dps while a few raid members acted as healers. Once the Red Dragonflight entered the fray, it was the end of the road for Malygos.

We're looking forward to this encounter in the 25-man version very soon, and with a successful kill there TDC will complete the available raid content for WotLK. While we're moving on our own schedule, we're definitely looking forward to Ulduar, and the more challenging raid encounters down the pike.
